Tokyo Tonteki Pork Loin Steak Greenbelt 5 Ayala Center Makati. A welcome alternative to all the Katsu restaurants around town. Tonteki stands for pork loin steak which has been marinated and then grilled to perfection, a healthy alternative to tonkatsu and served with unlimited hot bowls of miso soup, japanese rice, pickled cucumbers, cabbagte and bean sprouts. Tokyo Tonteki was founded by Shusaku Namikawa who operates and owns the popular pork loin steak specialty restaurant that has branches in Shibuya, Japan. The restaurant chain was franchised to the Philippines by the Am-Phil Group, which is also behind restaurants like Chili’s, Super Bowl of China, and Nanbantei of Tokyo. Greenbelt is the restaurant’s second branch, which has 60 seats in Greenbelt 5, Makati.
The tonteki is thick, tender, and surprisingly tasty. The restaurant’s first branch is located at the UP Town Center in Diliman, Quezon City and is smaller with around 30 seats.
